Here we are.
In this maze of brick and cement.
Navigating our way between sunrise and sunset.
With the voices of fear, from a face in a speaker
Of a thing in which we cannot see-
Until we feel it on our chest.
Conflicting safety causing disarray.
Lines etched in the ground
Between friends and foe.
Unless we shield ourselves,
We should never see the light of day.
Or be isolated inside a box.
To make their claim,
Voices silently shout
To those who do not hear.
And, for now, we wait.
Praying for a new tomorrow,
Hoping for something more.
Oh, God.
Won’t you save us from this demon.
So we can still see tomorrow.
For I fear what I imagine -
They’ve all gone missing.
And so have we.
